How to Use Blogger to Upload your Javascript (.js) files ? - Unlimited Bandwidth!!
Posted by Kranthi on Wednesday, September 16, 2009This post explains how to host javascript(.js) files in blogger itself, so you don't need to worry about bandwidth limitations,etc:-
"How to host Javascript files for Free with unlimited bandwidth ?" is one of the most frequently asked questions in the blogger community. There are tons of hosting providers out there who can help you host your .js files for Free, but all have some bandwidth limitations and also they are not very reliable.
My friend Switcher previously explained how to use google sites to host your javascipt files for free in his blog (you can read that post here)... I used that method to host javascript files of my previously released magazine style blogger template ' Falkner Press '... but, the problem is even google sites have bandwidth limitations. So, if the bandwidth exceeds at a particular moment, the javascript files don't load which results in complete template mess up.
So, if you have those kind of problems, here is a simple trick.
I'll take Falkner Press template javascript files as an example.
If you look at the top of the template code, you see something like this:
So, as you can see, there are three javascript files (highlighted with colors) in the template. The files are hosted at google sites.
2. Copy each of those three links and paste them in your browser and download all those three files.
3. Now, open each file with Wordpad (not notepad) and copy that code.
4. Now, here is the trick...
Paste the code you copied (copied from first file) in your blogger template like this.

What about if you have 2 javascript files or three (like falkner press template) ? Simple! Just repeat the process again... like this..
5. And the Final and Most Important step... SAVE THE CHANGES ;)
Benefits of this trick:
» No file size limitations
» No bandwith limitations
» Super fast page loading (coz files are stored in blogger itself)
Like the trick ? comment.. :)

Once again nice trick but Image Trick not working after 1gb bandwidth
Thanks ! Continue your Great Work !
@ Mani,
Thank you.
FOR THE IMAGE TRICK,
If your file storage space exceeds 1gb, just create another google account and add that account as an author and add images from there.
Thanks, Kranthi
I'll have to check this out.
That's one cool trick, how you throw the CDATA inside the javascript! :)
Neat!
Thank you for this hack!
Ahh..Nice tips Kranthi, thanks for sharing.
For jquery and mootools or other big JS not recomended because will make slow load everytime page open have to load all js, its different if we use link the js, browser no need download every time open different page only use cache file inside of your hdd. To use big js, mootools or other you can use from google this the method How to Use Popular Javascript from google this method absolutely unlimited and recommended from Google for all web developer
thx..Kranthi...that's what I've been looking for a whole time ^_^, I'll try it to host my .js file.
I had read this thing earlier somewhere but at that time I thought that this would be less useful and thus I hosted the file on google site :( . thnx for the trick but I guess I would stay with google sites as I believe I wont reach the bandwidth limit as I jsut have 1 javascript hosted!
wow, really useful tips, i will use this if i use such templates in future.
Thanks kranthi.
I don't have a googlesites account. but I host my javascipts on other stores, will it work the same?
Thanks
Hi kranthi, i have a doubt that what will be URL of the script?
For example i am using ur thumbnail recent posts trick that uses the below script URL -
http://myblogtalk.com/bloggertemplates/js/recentposts_thumbnail.js
I have copied and pasted above script in my blogger HTML as you told in my blogger code, now what shud i change this URL to use script in my template code?
hei........
Hello, Kranthi!
Although I find your Communist template (for my blogspot blog) to be very eye appealing and very simplistically beautiful, I'm finding that I'm having a really, really, really hard time trying to tweak it to my specifications. I have spent the last two days trying to find an expandable post hack to add to my Edit HTML and all the ones I have tried have not worked. I also have another problem: when I go to my my 'Archive' under the 'Settings' tab, the "Enable Post Pages" is shaded out making me unable to select an answer.
I used your Charcoal template with no problem (except not being able to post ad units between posts) and I really want to keep this Communist template but because of the type of blog I have I really need to be able to implement the expandable post feature.
Can you help me in any way with this?
Hey I am using the same blog template..
i creates problems later on.
I think i would have done better with another template.

Hello,
I have a question about Blogger template editting. I would be grateful if you can answer me.
In the template html code, where can I edit the code in order to remove the name of my blog in the top of the page. I mean the brown line which reads: Radio Hafez
I don't want the name to be on the picture of the header.
(I know I can remove the title by going to Settings-> basic-> title. but I don't want the title of the WINDOW to be removed.)
Thanks.
my blog is: www.RadioHafez.com
Thanks for this! This really works!

I wanted to ask u a very simple question that the free wordpress sites sometimes leave a backlink to their site in the template they make (mostly in the end of the template) e.g.
BlueVelvet Theme DESIGNED by DESIGNER LINK

or is there a way that i can place the javascript in the template, then i can still place the widgets on the sidebars and access the javascript from the template?

Was always wondering how to do this on blogger without having to find a free web host just to mooch JS files off of.
Thanks!
Seeing how Blogspot uses XML, it makes sense to need to add the // tag to the script. I bet there may be many other applications of this...too bad I can't think of them at the moment. Thanks for the tip!
Very good idea. Why didn't I think about it before? Thanks for the tip.
nice article..
I will try to put it in my blog..
