Previously, I Converted Popular Charcoal 2 column wordpress theme into Blogger xml format.
Just a few days before, the 3 column version of the wordpress theme was released by Jinsona of web2feel.com and so many readers are leaving comments daily asking me to convert that 3 column version into Blogger template.. So, here it is guys.. the much awaited Charcoal Blogger Template with three columns is ready to download.
As usual, after downloading and installing the template,change the top navitation links
Scroll down the template and find this code:and replace the text (Home,About,Pictures,etc) and write the link to that page by replacing the YOUR-LINK-HERE

.. similarly few more sites..
Now, in that code... replace 'About' with 'ABC' and replace that text'YOUR-LINK-HERE' with 'http://abc.com',etc and Save the template...

You have to add atleast a few widgets for the sidebars to appear.
You can install new widgets by going to Template >> Page Elements.

1.All pics of this tempate are included in the download file.
2.If you want to change the header image, first design your own header of 1000 X 116px and upload to any image hosting service and copy the direct link to that image. next, go through the template code and replace this url with the one you just copied..

Next, you'll see your blog name(s) and there is a link "New Post". Simple use that to post any new post..

1.To show date, you ned to change the timestamp format.. go to settings »» Formatting »» and now, change the timestamp format from the dropdown menu and save the changes..

If you are trying to switch your blogspot domain to [dot] com and use the same blogger hosting, you don't need to convert it again... but, if you are not using blogger, I recommend u to use the wordpress... and use the charcoal wordpress version.

The date shows on the 2 column and not on the 3 column. The time is really useless if you do not have a date. I have changed it in the formatting and nothing happens. Please help!

I really love this template. When I downloaded it I have had a couple of problems.
1. The middle column consistantly shifts down whenever I add any widgits.
2. I am not able to add any page elements to it.
3. My previous posts list does not show up.
I am quite new to this, as I have only been blogging for a month. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
The only problem that I have found using this template, is that it does not show the date of which you posted. It shows the time, but I am not technical enough to figure out the coding to do a date stamp in the title.

To get the date and not just the time showing, go to Settings> Formatting >Timestamp Format and change to dd.mm.yyyy

@ Krystyl and others how might be having the same doubt, here's the solution:
Changing the date format appearance is pretty simple on the Charcoal. Here are the steps:
1. Go to Blogger dashboard.
2. Click on Layout
3. Click the Edit link in the Blog Posts widget
4. Right below the Select Items header, you'll see a row of check boxes
5. Check the third box and that is the setting that governs the date format that is displayed.
6. Select the format where the date is given first, in numbers, and then the time

I know this question has been asked a million times, but when defining the site address in the clickable tabs, how do we create a new site that matches the format as the original? I.e. I created another blog, and tried to reference it as a site feed, but an error shows up. Instead of my new site feed, it is: oldsitefeed.blogspot.com/oldsitefeedabout.blogspot.com
Why not use the archives or dropdown style? Presently, very less people are using the hierarchy style and those are all newbies..

There have been several comments about not having the proper date, and several explanations. How do you either:
1. Properly syn the calendar page on the post to the proper date
2. Remove the calendar page so the proper date (as specified in Format/Settings) will show in the proper place on the post.

Also, if you're answering questions, could you post where in the HTML the following things are located:
1. Top (large section) of the header
2. Bottom (smaller section, in line with tabs) of the header
3. HTML that I can adjust for post titles that are too big on the sidebar (often my post title spills over the gray box, so I have to truncate my title)

littlestar... you have to edit that graphic in photoshop or something. It isn't part of the code, it is part of the graphic.
Question... I'm trying to make the tabs link to seperate blogger pages, but it keeps messing my links up. It will put the address for the blog I'm on first and then add the URL for the link I want to add second. How do I fix that? I'm using the template for blogspot and for some reason I don't have the ability to show my labels? I was given the following below to paste after data:post.body, but its not working.... I get the error: "Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly.

the only thing I can tell you at this point is I noticed my previous post widget was missing so I went to add it and there were 2 of them in the edit area so I tried to delete one and hit save then the error comes up.
I do know when I first put the theme xml file in that it said I had 2 feed1 and that I can't have them so I figured it wasn't gonna take the template and I went to my blog and the template was applied but now I don't know what to do I can't fix this as I don't know where to look to begin, If you can help I'd be very happy. 1) How do we fix the Blog Archive template so that the graphic box looks intact? (like the Categories box at sidebar 2 at http://worldofbloodgames.blogspot.com/)

I've seen many posts having trouble with the Feed1 message when you try to make changes to the template.
Solution: Any changes you want to make, DON'T do them using the browser and the Edit html section. Use an external editor ( i used Dreamweaver ) and then upload the altered template.

Something's funky with the comments form. The names don't match up in the code so it defaults to the Blogger form. Will you have a look at the style definitions for comments and see? Thx.

Hello, I downloaded and installed your modified charcoal template and I really like it, but could you help me with a few things?
1- how do you remove the green web 2.0 graphic in the top left corner?
2- The blog description under the title is being partly blocked by the tabs. Is there a way to move this up so it is not blocked?
3- Can you remove the tabs all together and replace them with other things? I don't have a dedicated pictures page or another profile web page so these do me no good. If I can't replace them with other things I would just as soon delete them.

In order to fix the Feed1 ID problem, I changed the second Feed1 to Feed2. However, this gave me problems. http://bigstrongasian.blogspot.com/
As you can see, the word JACKED is overlapping my post.

I was wondering if you knew off of the top of your head how to fix a small issue I have. The Blogger post features such as "Links to this post" and the star rating system do not appear in the footer of the posts. I was wondering there was some code changes I could make to help these appear and if you had any idea what would be preventing them from appearing. Thanks again for this great template!

Hi Kranthi. This is a really good template you have done. I started using it yesterday. I usually use Opera as webreader, but today I saw that on IE the middle column sinks down under the left column. That doesn't happen in opera-reader. Do you know how I can solve this problem.

Hello, someone asked about this but I read the comments and couldn't see the solution...How do I get back my blogger dashboard option on the top of my blog? I usually keep that up there while I'm inside Blogger so I can fix things with ease, but now that I have the template, I notice it's gone and I have to keep hitting my 'back' button to get to maintain my blog. Otherwise, the template works awesome and is very beautiful.

Great template, yet I didn´t work as it supposed to, in the Home, about, etc...

I'm having a problem a previous poster had but don't see the answer.. I used the header image included in the files.. I painted the "web 2.0" the same color as the rest of the header and saved the file. But when I use my file it doesn't stretch to the full length of the header like the file included does. It would repeat. I added the 'no-repeat' so it no longer repeats but it does not stretch to fit the rest.. +I did not change the file size and when I compare them in adobe photo shop elements it states they are the same size (1000x116) yet it isn't on the page .. please help. TIA
I'm having similar problems to a previous poster but do not see the answer.. I visited your site and looked at your source code...You didn't replaced the image url's correctly... all the image links are like this:

I think you resized the top1.jpg and footer.jpg images. The original dimensions of the pics I supplied are 1000 X 116 and 1000 X 72...but, your pics sizes are 800 X 93 and 800 X 58...check where you did the mistake.

How to decrease Post area Size because when I open my Blog in Internet Explorer but Blog Posts are not Showing at the Top but at the middle of the Page and I tink it is due to Widgets on the Both sides if I can decrease Post area Size then it will automatically come on Top like it shows on other Browsers so can you please tell me how to decrease Post area size?

I figured out, that the problem is that when I go to edit HTML, I do not have a place where I can browse for files and upload. It appears that is how everyone changes this. Why don't I have that option do you think? I am so confused. I want to use this template so bad.

Hi, I installed and edited this template and it worked great. However, I am trying to use a label cloud widget (http://phy3blog.googlepages.com/Beta-Blogger-Label-Cloud.html) and cannot figure out why I keep hitting a bug. I am wondering if the problem is a result of using this template. Any help?
Is there anyway to fix it without redoing the whole template and therefore having to redo my widgets? I don't know anything about reading code so I don't understand any mistakes I may have made...or where the mistake may be. Looking at it raw, it looks fine, but I know something's wrong when I see that red banner on my blog. If everything else looked wrong I'd just redo everything, but the rest of the blog is fine. Can you give me some guidance so I can know where in the code I should be looking to fix it and what it should say? I'd really appreciate it.

It occured to me that you intended for us to upload the photos onto our own photo accounts? I tried to put them on my photobucket but when I popped the new links into the template, they didn't work.

Apparently my blogger account was hacked and in each of the headers (for sidebars, blog entries, navigation bar, etc.) an ad for photobucket was placed as the background image instead of the lighter gray.
I went through the "edit HTML" link and deleted the link where I could find it, and seem to have gotten them all out. However, I don't know how to restore the HTML back to its original look, which I loved so much.
I could reinstall it, but don't want to start over with my widgets.
Can you help?
